How it works

Language Preference Settings

Teachers set up one CodeHS course for the whole class. Students pick their preferred language and the lessons, examples, and starter code follow automatically. The entire class moves at the same pace, and teachers see one unified gradebook.

FAQ

Spanish Computer Science Courses FAQ

Can English- and Spanish-speaking students use the same CodeHS course?

Yes. English- and Spanish-speaking students can use the same CodeHS course. Each student selects their preferred language, and available course content appears in that language. Teachers manage one course, keep everyone on the same pace, and see all student work in one unified gradebook.

Can I teach a CodeHS course in Spanish with a free teacher account?

Yes. Teachers can use CodeHS courses available in Spanish with a free teacher account. Spanish is a language option within supported courses, not a separate curriculum to purchase or manage. Teachers create one course for the class, and each student selects English or Spanish.

Which CodeHS courses can students take in Spanish?

Most CodeHS K-12 computer science courses are available in Spanish, including courses in introductory programming, web design, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and College Board-endorsed AP. These are the same CodeHS courses offered in English, with Spanish-language course content. Browse the CodeHS Spanish-supported course catalog for current options.

How do students choose between English and Spanish in CodeHS?

Students can select Spanish in their CodeHS account settings, and teachers can set each student's preferred language from the class roster. Available translated assignments and student-facing resources then appear in the selected language automatically. Teachers can keep their own account in English and view a student's work in Spanish when needed.

Can elementary students use CodeHS in Spanish?

Yes. CodeHS K-5 courses include Spanish-language student content and translated lesson slides. Teachers set a preferred language for each learner, allowing English- and Spanish-speaking students to use the same elementary course together. Spanish content appears wherever a translated version of the lesson is available.

Do teachers need to speak Spanish to use Spanish-language CodeHS content?

No. Teachers can keep their own CodeHS account and classroom tools in English while students view available course content in Spanish. Teachers manage one roster and gradebook for everyone, and when reviewing a Spanish-speaking student's assignment, they can switch to the student's language view when needed.

Does CodeHS offer AP computer science courses in Spanish?

Yes. CodeHS offers Spanish-language content for College Board-endorsed AP courses, including AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, and AP Cybersecurity. Students receive the same rigorous course content offered in English, and teachers can support English- and Spanish-speaking students together in one class.
