This course is aligned to UT standards and designed to provide computer science instruction for Utah 5th Grade students. This course integrates coding into math, science, ELA, and social studies lessons. It is meant to be taught approximately once a week by the general education teacher.

UNITS - 9 (53 lessons)
Students learn the basics of programming.
Uses conditionals, variables, and loops to teach multi-digit multiplication and division, fraction operations, area, quadrilateral classification, and data inquiry projects.
Uses events and conditionals to model earth science processes including volcanic activity, ecosystems, the water cycle and cycle of matter, day/night, and states of matter.
Students learn to demonstrate ELA concepts using programming.
Students learn to demonstrate Social Studies concepts using programming.
A cross-curricular module intended to connect coding with other subject areas, though no lessons are currently listed under it.
Expands variables, operators, conditionals, and loops through a range of games and projects including a snake game, a pinball game, and an accessibility-focused redesign.
Covers computing systems, the cultural impact of technology, data storage and analysis, networks, and proper research and attribution, ending with a quiz.
Explores human vs. computer performance, training AI models, evaluating AI products ethically, and designing AI chatbots, ending with a quiz.
