UNITS - 5 (36 lessons)
Students revisit foundational programming skills like navigation, events, loops, and messages to prepare for more advanced lessons.
Students build essential computer skills, including logging in, keyboarding, and using computational thinking to sequence everyday routines.
Students grow their digital literacy through online safety, digital citizenship, productivity tools, research skills, data concepts, and an introduction to AI.
Students strengthen their programming skills using grid-based movement, peer feedback, and multi-page projects to design interactive games.
Students apply coding to real-world topics across math, science, ELA, and social studies, from cardinal directions to place value and money.

The course introduces 2nd grade students to computer science and digital literacy using the CodeHop interface, a block-based programming environment. Students review and build programming skills like events, loops, and messages, develop digital literacy skills including online safety, productivity tools, and an introduction to AI, and apply coding to math, science, ELA, and social studies.
The course is aligned to South Carolina 2nd Grade Computer Science and Digital Literacy standards, with individual lessons in the Interdisciplinary Exploration module also mapped to specific SC academic standards in math (2.NBT, 2.G, 2.MD), ELA (2.L, 2.W), science (2-PS1, 2-LS2, 2-ESS3), and geography (2.G.1).

Students write and run programs in the CodeHopJr interface, a block-based programming environment embedded directly in their CodeHS accounts, where they can create and debug interactive projects.
