UNITS - 9 (32 lessons)

  • Getting Started

    Introduces CodeHopJr login, keyboard and mouse skills, and basic computer concepts like input, output, hardware, and software.

  • Unplugged Exploration

    Students create a sequence of step-by-step instructions for a dance without using a computer.

  • Block Exploration

    Follows the Scout Adventures story unit, teaching students to add characters, backgrounds, and pages and to use motion blocks to move characters around the stage.

  • Sequences & Events

    Builds on computational thinking with morning routines while introducing drawing tools, event blocks, and show/hide and grow/shrink blocks.

  • Pages

    Teaches students to create programs with multiple pages and use the "go to page" block to move between them.

  • Block Exploration

    Students use say/sound and speed blocks to program vehicles, create an "All About Me" activity, and practice debugging events and motion.

  • Loops

    Introduces loops and has students use them to repeat code in simple animal-themed programs.

  • Culmination Projects

    Students apply sequences, events, and loops to build an interactive chicken-crossing game and a wildlife scene project.

  • Digital Literacy

    Covers keeping personal information private, the impacts of computing in daily life, data storage and research skills, networks, and an introduction to AI decision trees.
