UNITS - 7 (38 lessons)
Students review foundational CodeHop skills such as navigating the interface, using events, and applying repeat and forever loops to prepare for the year's programming units.
Students use computational thinking to sequence school-day routines and apply events, the grid, and peer feedback to build and debug programs like an interactive tap game.
Students use message events to control program flow, model cycles, navigate between pages, and animate growth in a garden project.
Students identify patterns and use loops, wait blocks, and turn blocks to build and debug timer and path-following programs.
Students apply events, loops, messages, and pages learned throughout the course to build capstone projects such as a racing game, a moving-targets game, and a multi-page adventure game.
Students explore digital literacy topics including computer hardware and software basics, networks, data collection and storage, research skills, password safety, AI, and responsible digital citizenship.
Students preview conditionals and variables through unplugged card games and score-keeping activities while transitioning from the CodeHopJr to the CodeHop block-based editor.
