This course provides a foundation in information systems, networking, and cybersecurity. Students have opportunities to apply employability skills and to research careers in the information technology area. They also complete hands-on activities to build a strong foundation in computer hardware and connectivity.

Computer Basics
Students learn about the physical elements of computers and networking such as motherboards, RAM, routers, and the use of port numbers, ethernet and wireless devices. |
Networking Fundamentals
Students explore the structure and design of the internet and networks, how this design affects the reliability of network communication, the security of data, and personal privacy. |
Project: Troubleshooting
In this project, students explore the troubleshooting methodology and utilize it to solve sample IT support issues. |
Cybersecurity and Digital Citizenship
Students are introduced to the basics of cybersecurity, focusing on why cybersecurity is important, recent threats to cybersecurity, and different careers in the field. |
Project: Public Service Announcement
Students create a Public Service Announcement (PSA) to teach their peers about digital citizenship and cyber hygiene. |
