This course introduces students to coding with Wonder Workshop's Dash® Robot.
UNITS - 2 (5 lessons)
Students learn to program Dash's basic movement, use its proximity sensor to detect obstacles, and apply loops and functions to create a repeating dance routine.
Students apply their Dash programming skills to collaboratively build a storytelling project and to solve and create mazes using sequences of movement and turns.

Students learn the inputs and outputs of Wonder Workshop's Dash robot and program its basic movements. They use Dash's proximity sensor to detect and respond to obstacles, and use loops and functions to program a robot dance with repetition. Students then apply their skills in projects, working together to program Dash to act out a story and to solve and design mazes.
Students program Dash in Wonder Workshop's Blockly app rather than inside CodeHS, so they need access to the app on a classroom device. You will also need Dash robots. CodeHS provides the lesson plans, slides, rubrics, and printable code instructions in English and Spanish.
Coding with Dash Robot is designed for grades 2-6, and no prior coding experience is needed. The first lesson introduces Dash and basic movement blocks, and later lessons and projects build on those skills.
The course includes five 45-minute lessons, totaling about 3 hours and 45 minutes of instruction: three introductory lessons and two project lessons.
Coding with Dash Robot lessons are aligned to many state computer science standards, and they also connect to Common Core English Language Arts.
