Self-driving cars. Despite how futuristic this may feel, companies are already putting autonomous cars, a vehicle that can sense its environment and operate without human involvement, on the road. However, computer science is applied in so many more ways when it comes to transportation. Almost everything electronic inside a car, subway train, or city bus today is connected to a computer program and there is an automotive or design engineer who helped put it all together – air conditioning, radios, anti-lock braking systems, air bags, alarm systems, traction control, and cruise control.
Hear from people who use their programming skills and knowledge to advance the field of Transportation and how the industry is changing today.
The code must ensure that the correct information is sent or received so that the correct action can be taken within the correct amount of time. This is common for most software, the difference with software on a vehicle is that the timing is critical.
